This week our learning has been based on The Three Little Pigs story. The children engaged in the story in different ways. They used the story stones to retell the story, they have created story maps, and have constructed an amazing house in our classroom completely independently. We have also looked at different types of houses and shelter around the world.
 

 



 
On Tuesday the children took part in a drama workshop. They had lots of fun playing games and playing tricks on a dragon and a witch.
As the weather was much kinder to us this week we have been going on nature walks. The children have collected lots of goods like acorns, conkers and sticks, which they then were selling in a shop. Lots of amazing, independent learning.




Next week we will focus our learning on Harvest celebrations. We will look at hard work that farmers do to provide us with food. We will discuss the importance of reducing food waste and sharing with others.
On Friday next week is our Harvest Festival. You are welcome to come along for a coffee and some cake. The slot for Foundation stage is from10am till 10.30am. The celebration will take place in the school hall. Please do not worry if you can't make it as we will be staying with the children during the session.

Phonics
This week the children were introduced to letter sounds: p, i, n. Please practise these sounds with your child at home by finding objects beginning with the sounds.
Next week we will learn m and d.

Maths
Thank you for all the conkers the children have brought to school!!!
We have done lots of fun counting activities during the week using the conkers as counters.
Next week in maths we will focus on making patterns.



The children have been given the new lunch menu on Friday. Please return your lunch choices as soon as possible. The new menu will be served after half term.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
