The weather was wonderful during the week , therefore the children spend a lot of time playing and learning in the outdoor environment.. We have observed lots of creative and cooperative play amongst groups of children which is fantastic to see.
Phonics
During the week we have been playing various games where the children had to identify initial sounds in words. We have also practised oral blending of sounds in short three letter words.
Next week the children will be introduced to following letter sounds: s, a, t, p.
You might want to help your child to secure these sounds by  finding objects around the house that begin with the sound e.g. s- sink, sock, scarf, sofa, etc.
Maths
In maths we have been counting objects and learning numbers 1-10.
Next week we will match numbers with quantities.
When out and about engage your child in spotting numbers in the environment: house numbers, bus numbers, registration plates on cars, price tags in shops, etc.

The children were very engaged and keen to participate in discussion when learning about our bodies. They had lots of fun identifying  objects while wearing a blindfold.
Next week we will continue learning about our senses and we will  focus on taste and vision.

BOOK FAIR
On Wednesday Scholastic Book Fair arrives to our school. The fair will take place in our school hall. The children can purchase books after school on Wednesday and Thursday next week , as well as on Monday and Tuesday the following week.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs Sheehan
