It has been a very busy week for Reception. We have started the week with looking at famous art work and artists especially at Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh and Water Lilies by Monet. The children have created beautiful pieces of work which were very individual to each one of them.
 As this week we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first man landing on the Moon, our learning was mainly focused on Space. The children were very interested while learning facts about planets,The Sun and The Moon. They have shown lots of curiosity and asked many questions which we tried to answer best to our ability.
On Friday we have watched Year 6 performing their amazing end of school show. After the show our Reception children have started already planning their show.
The children have visited Year 1 classroom again where they listed to a story. They are now familiar with their new teacher and the classroom therefore the transition should be seamless.
The Foundation Stage team and myself would like to thank you for your amazing support during the year. It was a fantastic year for me and I hope that the children have enjoyed their Reception Year too. They have grown in every way and a definitely ready for challenges of Year 1.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once.  Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends. Following the children's interest, next week, we will create our own puppets. Phonics  In phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: i, n, m, d.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
