We have had an amazing Science week at our school. During the week the children took part in variety of science activities. They created birds using different techniques. We have learnt the facts about Robins, and have engaged in bird watching.
Reception class have made up Little Robin song to the tune of 'Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree'.

Little Robin
Little Robin seats on the berry tree
Looking for some worms that he can eat
Look, little Robin look
There's a juicy worm in the soil for you

We would like the children to create the third verse of the song at home with your help. Please bring the lyrics to school next week.
The Scientist we have researched in the Foundation Stage is Alexander Bell. The classroom was like a call centre. Children used their hand made telephones to chat to their friends and teachers.


On Friday The children took part in The Bubbles Workshop. They had a lot of fun making bubbles of different shapes and sizes.

























We have finished the week joining in the whole school dance for  Red Nose Day.

Phonics
This week we have focused on the tricky words. Next week we will continue to consolidate our tricky words knowledge through practical activities.

Maths
In maths we have focused on one more and one less from a given number.
Next week  we will concentrate on taking away two single digit numbers.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all. The children are happy to be back and have settled well into their routines. This term we have decided to hold some child initiated stay and play sessions every Tuesday morning starting next week.   Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first week of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun.  Each week Reception class will take part in three PE sessions  ( Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and on Fridays the children will be joining the whole school for the music assembly and will have a music lesson.  Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme and will take part in daily maths sessions.  Please remember to bring named welly boots next week if you haven't done it yet. Hello all, What a busy week we have had in foundation. The children have settled so well and are beginning to relax into their learning.  We  have enjoyed the outdoor area as we continue to have the warm sun. The class played a variety of balancing games during PE lesson and the children have enjoyed singing and dancing with Mrs Lawrence during the whole school singing assembly and the music lesson.. We are really pleased with the way the children are engaging with each other and all the activities. They are confident in asking us for help and also if they are a little unsettled they are comfortable connecting to a familiar adult for support. Phonics This week we have begun learning phonics . The children were introduced to the letter sounds: s, a, t, p. We have been identifying initial sounds in words and have practised oral blending.
