The weather was kind to us for the most of the week therefore our learning was mainly based outdoors. Barbecue season is officially opened at Little Heath School. The children created an amazing barbecue site in our garden with many delicious dishes on offer.




During the week the children engaged in retelling the Three Billy Goats Gruff story. They have used the story stones to structure the story, and have created their story boards.



The Pyjama day was a lot of fun for all of us. We looked at different designs and patterns on our pyjamas, and have created our own patterns. Thank you very much for all of your kind donations.

Next Thursday we will celebrate  World Book Day. The children are welcome to dress up as their favourite book character.
Phonics
This week the children were introduced to the following letter sounds: ow, ear, and the tricky
 word: all. Next week we will learn the sounds: air, ure and er. Please encourage your child to draw, write labels for their pictures, write shopping lists, etc.
Maths
In maths we have focused on addition during the week. Next week we will work on finding out one more and one less from a given number.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all. The children are happy to be back and have settled well into their routines. This term we have decided to hold some child initiated stay and play sessions every Tuesday morning starting next week.   Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first week of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun.  Each week Reception class will take part in three PE sessions  ( Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and on Fridays the children will be joining the whole school for the music assembly and will have a music lesson.  Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme and will take part in daily maths sessions.  Please remember to bring named welly boots next week if you haven't done it yet. Hello all, What a busy week we have had in foundation. The children have settled so well and are beginning to relax into their learning.  We  have enjoyed the outdoor area as we continue to have the warm sun. The class played a variety of balancing games during PE lesson and the children have enjoyed singing and dancing with Mrs Lawrence during the whole school singing assembly and the music lesson.. We are really pleased with the way the children are engaging with each other and all the activities. They are confident in asking us for help and also if they are a little unsettled they are comfortable connecting to a familiar adult for support. Phonics This week we have begun learning phonics . The children were introduced to the letter sounds: s, a, t, p. We have been identifying initial sounds in words and have practised oral blending.
