Our Trip to the Snow Centre ❄️

This week, Reception had a very exciting school trip to the Snow Centre! The children were full of excitement from the moment we climbed onto the coach. They did a fantastic job listening to instructions and were extremely well behaved throughout the journey and during the activity – we were very proud of them.

At the Snow Centre, the children had so much fun sliding down the snowy slope on rings. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and happy faces as they took turns zooming down the slope. It was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity for the children to try something new.

Back in the classroom, we have introduced our new topic: The Winter Olympics. As part of this, we have created our very own ice rink in the classroom where the children can practise figure skating through imaginative play. They have loved pretending to glide, spin, and perform like real Olympic skaters. We will be continuing our Winter Sports topic next week.

Phonics

This week in phonics we have focused on reading longer words. This term's tricky words were: was, you, they, are, my, by, pure, sure.

Please use the Little Wandle  website (section for parents) for revising the letter sounds with your child at home.

We have noticed that the children are becoming more confident in using their phonics knowledge in writing which is very rewarding to see.😊

Maths

In maths this week we focused on numbers 6,7,8. We made the representations of these numbers and looked for numbers that are one more from the given number.

Have a lovely weekend!
