Hello all, This week in Reception, we continued our exciting exploration of water . The children have been absolutely buzzing with curiosity and enthusiasm as they investigated what happens to different objects when we place them in water. Our float and sink activities were a huge hit! The children made fantastic predictions, eagerly tested their ideas, and reacted with delight as they discovered whether each item would float on the surface or sink to the bottom. Their excitement was wonderful to see, and it led to so many thoughtful discussions. We didn’t stop there! We carried out other exciting water experiments , encouraging the children to notice changes, talk about what they observed, and ask questions. From watching colours swirl in water to investigating how water moves through materials, the children were fully engaged and eager to explore more. It has been a week filled with hands-on learning, scientific thinking, and lots of happy faces. We’re so proud of how confi...

Hello all, This week in Reception we began our exciting exploration into water . The children have been curious, busy, and full of wonderful ideas as we introduced the water cycle , talked about where water comes from, and described what it looks, feels, and sounds like. We listened carefully to the sounds water makes —from gentle drips to fast splashes—and the children loved experimenting with pouring, stirring, and swirling. We will be continuing our water activities next week , giving the children more opportunities to investigate, experiment, and discover. The changing weather added even more excitement to our learning. With the frosty mornings arriving, the children made lots of amazing discoveries outdoors. They found frozen water in containers , inside tyres , and even thin icy patches on the ground . There was so much awe and wonder as they touched, observed, and talked about how water can change when it gets really cold. As the festive season approaches, we have also begun...

Hello all, We began the week by celebrating Anti-Bullying Week . On Monday, the children came to school wearing odd socks to celebrate individuality and to remind us all that it’s good to be different. We had thoughtful discussions about how to treat others with kindness , how our actions can make people feel, and the importance of being a good friend. On Tuesday, we spent time talking about Armistice Day and why it is such an important day of remembrance. The children made their own beautiful poppies , taking great care with their designs. We then gathered together for a minute of silence , showing fantastic respect as we reflected on the significance of the day. Our classroom has also been buzzing with excitement as the children explored our new role-play areas . The hairdresser’s salon has been especially popular, with lots of imaginative styling, booking appointments, and friendly customer service. Over in the campsite area , children have enjoyed ‘toasting’ marshmallows, s...

Hello all, After Bonfire Night, we went outside to our school playground to take a closer look at the ashes left behind from our bonfire . The children were fascinated to see what was left after the flames had gone out. They used lots of great describing words — “grey,” “soft,” “dusty,” — to talk about what they could see and feel. It was a lovely opportunity to explore the changes that happen when things are burned, and to use our senses to observe closely like little scientists! We also shared our firework experiences from the weekend. The children were very excited to tell us about the fireworks they had seen and heard — “bangs,” “whooshes,” “crackles,” and “sparkles” filled our classroom as we talked! Some children spoke about the colours they liked best, while others described how they watched from their gardens or wrapped up warm with their families. Our focus story was 'Room on the broom' by Julia Donaldson. Cyber Safety Presentation We would like to invite all pa...
