Hello all, This week in Reception, we had a wonderful time diving into the story Handa’s Surprise . The children loved listening to the tale and brought it to life by acting it out using props. It was a fantastic way to explore the story in a fun, hands-on way. We also had a fruity surprise of our own with a fruit tasting session! The children enjoyed trying all the different fruits from the story — there were lots of happy (and some surprised!) faces as they explored the different tastes and textures. On Thursday, the children had a very exciting visit to their new Year 1 classroom. They were thrilled to meet their new teachers and explore the new environment. The role play areas and new toys certainly caught their attention — we’re sure they’ve been telling you all about it at home! It was lovely to see their excitement and growing confidence as they begin to prepare for their next step. Have a lovely weekend! Mrs Sheehan

They had a fantastic time creating their own repeating patterns using body percussion. Clapping, stamping, and tapping different rhythms was both challenging and incredibly fun, helping them understand how patterns can be made through sound and movement. In our maths sessions, the children used various objects to build and extend patterns. They carefully counted how many times their patterns repeated, which was a great way to combine hands-on learning with early counting skills. The hands-on activities really brought the concept to life, and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and creativity in action. Looking ahead, next week is Transition Week! We will focus on helping the children feel confident and comfortable as they prepare to move up to Year One. Part of this will include spending some time in the new class...
