Hello all,

By popular demand I have attached the footage from the BBC news about Brodie the dinosaur. The children were amazed that the police had been to visit and he had been spotted in the grounds. The children are aware that the dinosaur is very friendly so they are not frightened by all the activity. It has sparked so much learning that it is hard to record it all. The amount of language and communication that has taken place is incredible, we are now trying to move onto another adventure but who knows, he may return!





We have also been very fortunate that the community police officers came for a visit and talked to the children about safety. They also played along with our current story. The children drew pictures of the dinosaur and the police promised to look for it in the area. They will let us know the outcome.

Maths

In maths we focused on replicating models. Finding things that are the same and different by looking at different arrangements.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once.  Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends. Following the children's interest, next week, we will create our own puppets. Phonics  In phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: i, n, m, d.   Hello all, Christmas has arrived in foundation and this week we have created a Christmas card factory. The children have enjoyed writing cards, putting them in envelopes and posting them in our post box. We have learnt about the Christmas nativity story and have continued to practice our songs for the show. The children are looking forward to performing for you but please do not be surprised if your child doesn't sing or gets upset if they see you, this is completely normal, and we will make sure that they are ok. It can be a little overwhelming to be in the hall with lots of adults. Hopefully they will all be ok. We have been looking at shapes this week and the children have enjoyed using geometric shapes with the play dough. The teachers supported the children with learning the names of the shapes.  We decided to collect some natural resources, we put them in water to see if they would freeze outside during the night. The photographs show the results. The children were amazed.
