Hello all,

This week our focus story was The Three Little Pigs. The children used props to act out the story and made models of houses using a variety of construction materials. We have used a factual book to learn about how houses are made and we have discussed the corresponding vocabulary such as : foundations, scaffolding, pipes, electricity.

We have talked about bonfire night, especially the safety element of the firework display and the children are looking forward to seeing some fireworks.


Phonics
In phonics the children were introduced to the following letter sounds: ff, ll, ss, j. Our new tricky words are: put, pull, full. I have placed the sheet with the letter sounds for this term in your child's reading folder. Please revise the sounds regularly at home. Many thanks for your support!

Maths
In maths we worked on one more and one less from numbers 1,2 and 3. Please use the concept of one more and one less in everyday situations so that the children will develop in depth understanding of it. 

Reading Books
The children were super excited to take their books home for the first time to share with you. 
Please write a comment related to your child's reading  in the orange reading diary. The books must be returned to school on Monday morning.

  Hello all, This week was all about spiders. We red information books to fid our amazing facts about spiders e.g. Spiders have oily legs so they don't stick to their webs. Water spiders live in webs full of water. When we came to school on Friday, we couldn't believe our eyes. There were spiders webs everywhere!!! We had a walk around the school grounds and we found lots beautifully crafted webs.  Our focus story this week was The very busy spider by Eric Carl.  Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first days of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun.  Each week Reception class will take part in three PE sessions  ( Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) and on Tuesdays the children will be joining the whole school for the music assembly and will have a music lesson.  Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme and will take part in daily maths sessions.  Please remember to bring named welly boots next week if you haven't done it yet.  Have a lovely weekend! Mental Health Week

 Our focus this week has been children's  mental health, we created lots of activities to support the children with their understanding of emotions. The children have a good understanding of what emotions are and we have spent time learning strategies to help us understand that all emotions are important and play a role in who we are. The children had a good understanding of  how they feel and they were all able to say that its good to talk about their feelings. We created some crazy hair photos which the children enjoyed making, they added words that expressed how they feel which was very enlightening. We  told stories and  made our own to demonstrate different ways to deal with different emotions. Although we have focused on  children's mental health  it is something that we do continually in early years. Supporting and encouraging children to understand emotions is very important.
